The Perfect Cover Up

I know I talk about everything and anything blue a lot. Let's be real, I just love navy. I also love the classic blue and white combo. Ginger jars anyone?? This past weekend I went to Aiken, South Carolina to visit a friend from college and I just died over her nail polish color. It was the most perfect slate blue color you could ever imagine, and perfect for fall! It's called 'The Perfect Cover Up' by Essie and you can bet I'll be going to scoop it up ASAP. {you can get it at Nordstrom!}

What's your favorite fall nail color?

Wish List Wednesday: Ginger Jars

Wisteria | Happiness Pots

I should have apologized in advance for the overload of ginger jars this week.. I just can't help it! I'm swooning over them. Anyone with me? I find them so timeless and they are such classic pieces. With the rate these jars are exploding as a decor trend, having one of these passed down from grandma's collection would be like striking gold. I'm loving the different ways to style them and mix and match them with more modern and clean decor pieces and accessories.

These ginger jars are a little on the pricey side but it's the going rate for these beautiful blue babies. I bet you could make a trip to a thrift store or good will and come across something very similar but that would be like finding a diamond in the rough.  Worth a try though - I think so!

Here are my Top 5 Ginger Jar Favorites:

Ginger Jars

1. $250 | Williams Sonoma
2. $125 | Design Darling Boutique
3. $279 (set of 3) | Wisteria
4. $98 | CWonder
5. $98 | CWonder

Trending: Ginger Jars

These popular blue and white jars are hitting the shelves everywhere I can think of right now.  If you haven't heard of the ginger jar trend I'm glad you are here! If you have, well I'm still glad you're here -  hopefully you can back me up on this one and I would love to hear your thoughts! Ginger Jars are quickly becoming the newest must have for this spring/summer decor.  Whether it's the kitchen, coffee table, a bookshelf or the entryway...you can put them just about anywhere in your home and they will look great! These trendy ceramic jars are usually styled in a pair or a grouping of different sizes, but also working perfectly as a solo act!

You'll probably notice that these are often paired with flowers which makes them a great accessory for this spring! Here are some of my favorite inspiration photos for styling your ginger jars this season:

What's your favorite way to style ginger jars? Are you loving this trend also? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Navy & Neutrals

Hello Hello! Let's take a step back from all the overwhelming, up and coming trends I've been throwing at you lately and talk about something simple. Something that everyone goes through at some point, usually more than once in their lives. The taunting decision to pick out paint. Let's face it. It's hard to stand there in the paint section of your local hardware store and be expected to just pick out a color and commit to it. [So. Many. Decisions.] I know.

If there's anything my dad has taught me about paint, there's two words I'll never forget. Benjamin Moore.  Sure, all the other brands are great and work like their supposed to but Benjamin Moore paint in my parents house is like liquid gold.

On that note, I'm helping a friend decorate and get ready for her nursery and we're in the process of picking out paint. Today's topic is right up their alley in helping them make the big decision. [The baby's name is already chosen, so of course the next big decision is the paint color of the nursery right?] It's a boy so who wouldn't love a little Navy and Neutral for a baby boy?

Here are my top choices for this Navy & Neutral Bedroom:
Personally, I'm imagining an all grey nursery with a thick horizontal cabana stripe that sits just above the top of the crib and flows through the room.. Soft and bold all in one! Note: We will be bringing in some other bright colors like mint greens, yellows and orange tones to this nursery with the decorations and other items as well! This baby is already the most stylish kid in Ohio!

Other colors and inspiration of navy & neutral painted rooms:
BM Van Deusen Blue | Apartment Therapy
BM Kendall Charcoal | Painters Place
BM Dark Harbor | The Marion House Book
BM Stormy Monday | Hey Gorgeous Events
BM Hale Navy | The Nesting Game
Alright now it's your turn! What are you're thoughts on this color scheme to start off the nursery? Which two colors would you pick - could you decide between all the possible Navy & Neutral options?

Rainy Day Blues

Spring has sprung here in Charlotte and the weather this past weekend was beautiful! I loved finally being able to spend my weekend outside enjoying the weather, but the rain finally hit and it's definitely put a damper on the mood. Today's mood board is all about those rainy day blues.

The rain can get you down, but I'm loving these blue patterns and designs!

A Look Inside: Jenna Lyons

Everyone has a curiosity bone inside of them. For me, I'm always wondering what celebrities homes look like. I love getting my monthly Architectural Digest Magazine so I can see inside different stars houses and see their style and taste.

Domino has recently featured the home of someone who's name may not ring a bell but the company she works for says it all. J.Crew Wouldn't you be just as curious to see the home style of J.Crew's Creative Director?

Full Disclosure: I don't normally like to share celebrities homes and home tours on my blog.  I love to look at them, but why show something that is outrageously expensive and impossible for the everyday person to achieve in their own home?
The spirit of my blog is to show, assist and inspire my readers that anyone [with any budget] can make their home beautiful. In this case however, Jenna's home is so simple, classy and beautiful that while some of the items inside might have a pricey tag, the same look can still be achieved by anyone looking for this vintage glam look.

Here is a peek inside Jenna Lyon's home:

Obsessed is an understatement.  I love the herringbone wood floor in the tub room. For anyone looking for a dramatic, yet classic look like this - Don't be afraid to go bold and dark on the walls.  Everything else can brighten up the room on it's own!

Too Scared to paint everything? Try a dark charcoal accent wall in your bedroom and adjust to it from there. What inspiration would you take from Jenna's home to bring into yours?

Beach-y Bedroom Bliss

Charleston, South Carolina.  The ultimate beach spot where the water is always warm and the little downtown streets are filled with amazing architecture and an eclectic mixture of restaurants and shops.

One of my best friend's is moving into her first apartment with some girlfriends in the heart of Charleston come August and she's asked me to help out with her bedroom!

Here is the situation: Recent college graduate inherits an old wooden bedroom set from family but LOVES the shabby chic look of distressed furniture. All while wanting a beach bedroom getaway on a budget.

Well, with me being the crazy, crafty, do-it-yourselfer, she turned to me for help and I turned to my crafty instincts (with the help of Pinterest) and came up with a plan. (Stay Tuned: DIY Shabby Chic white wash furniture post coming soon!)

Option 1: "Beach, Beige, & Blue"

Option 2: "Serene Sea Greens"

Option 3: "Beach-y Blue Breeze"

As you might notice, Option 3 is the perfect mix between Options 1 & 2.  Together, we have found a happy medium with taking bits and pieces from each of options 1 & 2 and creating what I like to call; The "Beach-y Blue Breeze" Bedroom.

The best part about this DIY bedroom? It won't break the bank!
