Minted

Posting on a Sunday is a little unusual for me but with the holidays here and everyone prepping for Santa this coming week I figured this one will be well worth the Sunday read. I'm hopeful that everyone has conquered the crowds at their local shopping malls and now all you need to do is wrap those presents! So, grab a cup of coffee and a blanket, take a quick break from the to-do list and get cozy with me for a little Sunday reading!

First things first, lets talk holiday cards. Considering Christmas is Thursday {hi, where did the 2014 go?} you or your family has probably already sent out Christmas cards. You're probably thinking 'wow, you're late to the game' but what you haven't thought of are all the other ways you can use christmas cards. I'm not talking heading down to target or hallmark and grabbing a box of premade cards. I'm talking Minted, the online marketplace of independent artists and designers. At Minted, you can personalize your cards with photos and choose between multiple card shapes and colors. The only hard part is making a decision on which card to personalize. {they even have gold foil cards

Curious now are we? Not only can you send out New Years cards to your friends and family instead of the traditional Christmas cards, especially for those who celebrate multiple holidays, you can also create holiday party invites! I actually received this card in the mail a few weeks ago! You can get 15% off your holiday card order using the code HOLIDAY15 at checkout. Offer ends at 11:59pmPST on 12/22! Here are a few of my favorites:

Now, if you're like me and you live on your own, work a little too much and don't have a boatload of people to send holiday cards to yet - Then I'm sure you're also like me in the sense that you still have people to get gifts for this year. These art prints are made by numerous talented people and WOW are they pretty! Want one better? I'm dying over the personalized map prints... Christmas gifts, Wedding Gifts, Birthdays and Anniversaries will never be the same now that I know about these bad boys! {This would be perfect for my mom & dad since they're planning to sell their house and head south!} I love abstract watercolor prints but I never have the guts to try to create them on my own, the prints from minted are the perfect answer! Gallery walls, nightstands, or just a simple gift, you're set. For the rest of these art prints, I'll stop blabbing my mouth and let them do the talking, here are my favorites:

This past weekend I celebrated my 23rd birthday at the beach with a few of my friends. It was so nice to have a mini vacation away from the hustle and bustle of the real world and just be able to hang out with no plans and no responsibilities... everyone deserves a weekend like that right? Well even though Saturday was the big 2-3, I'm taking today to celebrate here on the blog!

Rustic Chic Apartment

Happy Thursday, friends! Today I have another exciting post for you all.  This weekend I went to visit a friend from college and I helped her transform her adorable South Carolina apartment into a sophisticated space fit for a grad student.  With the the rustic elements, wooden furniture, and the shabby chic mixing and matching, we're calling this apartment "Rustic Chic"
Note: This is only Part One to this post.  Stay tuned for Part Two tomorrow!

Before (the process of moving in)

Living Room:

Dining Room:
I'm sure we can all imagine the amount of studying that goes into being a successful grad student, right? This dining room space will double as a desk/study area when the extra table space is needed to cram for exams.

Hallway:
Now, If you've made it this far [which I hope you have] you're in for a treat.  I tested my skills in creating a gallery wall for the hallway/living room area and let me tell you it came out amazing! Everyone loves it - I also think it creates a great focal wall for the apartment and LOVE how it mixes so well with the delicacy of the other walls!

Hint on how to create your own gallery wall:
Clear a space on the floor and lay out your artwork against a tape measure set to the desired width you wish to create.  I used the exact width of the console table in the images above. [48"]
We also got creative with the metal hanging piece which is actually a plant holder.

Does this make you want to take on the challenge of creating your own gallery wall?  Don't forget to check back tomorrow to see whats in store for Part Two of this South Carolina apartment!

Style your Sofa

Happy Tuesday! Let's talk about a little dilemma that I'm sure most people run into more than you think.  You're moving into a new apartment or home and you don't know how to design your living room. You have all the "stuff" but you never know where to put everything or how to hang the wall art you have. Don't you worry.

Let's start with the basics: the sofa. Whether it's a sectional, a three seater, a sofa with a chaise lounge it doesn't matter! These 4 ways will work with any size, shape, or color sofa you have! For my example however, I'm using Ikea's new STOCKHOLM sofa. It has such a versatile  look and is only $899!

I know everyone has their own style... and you buy what you think fits your style - who wouldn't? Here's 4 easy ways to style a sofa depending on your own personal style!

4 Easy Ways to Style a Sofa

1. NYC Glam: Black and White are your go-to colors. You love when spaces look crisp, clean and dramatic. You love to make a statement and don't need a mixture of colors to do it. If metallics are best when making a statement and bold and dramatic are positive words, then NYC Glam is all you.

2. Bohemian Chic: You love to mix and match everything and anything you can. You might enjoy thrifting on the weekends or get a thrill when you purchase the occasional antique. You like to think out of the box and be different with your style and design. If mixing dark metals, woods, and colorful patterns is right up your alley, then Bohemian Chic is for you!

3. Rustic Charm: You love neutrals. Any surroundings that possibly resemble the beach or your parents stylish beach vacation home is where you feel the most comfortable. Browns, whites, baby blues and wooden accents draw you in when shopping at your local stores. If this describes you then Rustic Charm is your cup of tea!

4. Minimalist: You think clean lines are the best lines. Color or no color you like everything to look as if if it was almost effortless but still looks good and makes a small statement. If simplicity at its finest is for you, then you are the Minimalist.

Which style do you think fits you?
