Welcoming in Winter

Hello There! I apologize for my slight absence since my big news about collaborating with Mindy from Creative Juice.  For all of you who have been following and checking back - It's been boring around here, I know. Good News, I'm hoping everyone can relate to today's post and hopefully find some comfort in the subject matter of it.

I'm writing to you today from my cozy newly arranged and organized office at work, and while I'm sitting here thinking I'm freezing and could use a blanket... I just found out that it's snowing in NH where most of my family is from. I repeat. SNOW. Yes, You've heard me right. Back to my I'm freezing mentality [please note: It's 65 degrees here in Charlotte, NC] Sorry for complaining Mom and Dad... Needless to say, I'm very happy with my decision to relocate to the south and I'm adjusting pretty well.

So, Without any more delay today's Wish List Wednesday is all about welcoming in the winter season [It's come a little early for those in NH] with what better than some comfy cozy blankets

West Elm is on point this season with their blanket & throw selection. [And don't worry, they're faux fur!] If I had to choose I'd be in the store for hours just trying to make up my mind!

Which blanket would you choose to cuddle up with this winter season?

Wish List Wednesday: Joss & Main

Hi, My name is Emma and I'm addicted to shopping. [good thing this whole real world deal has my money going towards my bills instead right?] Well, If I had a large sum of money today - Chances are... I'd take it shopping and blow it all without even thinking about tomorrow...whoops Since that's not the case, I resort to online "window" shopping. DAILY.

And what caught my eye today you ask? When I opened my email this morning I stumbled upon this gem and just had to click on it.

I'm a sucker for some black and white decor. Where do you ask? Joss & Main [one of my greatest weaknesses] I'm convinced that for a while I had to detox myself from their daily emails. It took every bit of me to not click on the links and fill up an entire shopping cart before realizing I can't redesign my apartment every week. Who does that?

So when this beaut grazed my email, I clicked it - without any hesitation.. I was nothing short of impressed, as usual

Like always, Happy Shopping!

Color Blocking: Not just for your #ootd

Happy Tuesday! As you might be able to notice from my past few posts, I've fallen in love with the challenge of turning a hot new fashion trend into a design style or theme. Well, today's post covers just that. One of the most recent trends I'm hooked on is color blocking - But it's not just fit for your closet.
And while you may be familiar with color blocking like this:
Have you ever thought of designing with the color blocking trend? Don't feel ashamed if you haven't because I wasn't even sure about it until I really thought it through. I Love the idea of the fashion trend but I thought it might be a little scary to commit to it with an entire room in mind. Have you ever had the issue where you can't decide on a color or theme to bring together a room? This, is the perfect reason to choose color blocking for design.
Take this teen girl's bedroom for example.  This isn't anything too extreme, but the mixture of bright, bold colors mix surprisingly well with the variety of patterns matched with them. I love how the two different sized stripes are brought together with the white bedding.
Hint: If you're nervous to mix patterns, try finding patterns with common colors to bring them together, the striped quilt and decorative pouf both have a dominant white base color.

If you want to try something a little more simplistic, try painting blocks of color on a wall to create an accent wall like in this girl's bedroom.
Hint: Use painter's tape to mark out your shapes before you paint!

And for anyone who's really feeling the trend and wants to take a risk with color, here is my challenge to you.  This is also a great opportunity for the DIY-ers out there!  Find a set of dining chairs and re vamp them by upholstering each one in a different color fabric.  I love this fun color blocked dining room, and the cabinet door hardware on each chair gives it an added hint of flair!
Hint: Use the same type of fabric in different colors to make this color blocking idea easier!

Add some bold stripes on the wall and you've tackled the trend!

Trending Tribal

Hello Hello! It's officially fall and we all know what that means.. The sweaters are out, the boots and scarfs are calling you're name, Starbucks has PSL's and Dunkins has pumpkin munchkins.. Annnd of course... [You're facebook and instagrams are filled with apple picking and pumpkins.]

Well, lets take a quick step back to my sweaters comment. Today's post is inspired by my new obsession, and the trend craze that brings me to my dilemma every time I go shopping... The hunt for the perfect tribal sweater. Yes, that's right.. like the tribal sweaters Emily Maynard wears

Exhibit A:
If you haven't checked out her style, I highly recommend it! Check out her Instagram & Blog  On that note - I'm sure everyone has pinned a few of these:

1 | 2 | 3 | 4
In my mind, that translates to patterns like these:
1 | 2
The next thing that runs through my mind is.. [Can you mix & use tribal prints into design?] [Does it always have to be bright and in your face?] [Can you portray tribal theme without having tribal print?] Answers: yes | no | yes

Here's some inspiration on how to tackle this popular trend:

For any other assistance, I recommend taking a stroll through you're local West Elm store. I might even have to purchase this duvet featured in [Image #4] for myself..
