In honor of St. Patrick's Day being tomorrow, I put together a little green moodboard for this week's splash of color. And... Irish or not, I know everyone loves a little bit of green. Bright colors are great, but I love them even more when spring and summer is in an arms reach. The warm weather we had again this weekend definitely reassured us that warmer weather and sunny days are on the way!

Sunshine
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of bringing yellow into a space. I'm not 100% against it, but it's not my go to color when decorating. I've experimented with mustard hues but it always seems to bring too much yellow into the space for my liking and I just can't get past how much I love a crisp white space. The weather being oh-so beautiful this weekend has got me thinking one thing and one thing only. Sunshine. Summer is near and the weather being beautiful this weekend just proves that it's right around the corner! So despite my personal hesitation on yellows, I've found a happy medium just for the sunshine and pulled together some surprisingly bright and crisp yellow spaces.
What are your thoughts on yellow decor?

Marsala Moodboard
Last Thursday the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year was announced. Do you remember last years color of the year? My excitement hit a new level when I found out that the 2015 Color of the Year was one of my favorite fall/ winter colors {and of course my friends knew I was going to be excited about it's announcement too since a few of them were sharing the articles with me} Don't be fooled, this isn't your basic cranberry color. Marsala is best described as a naturally robust and earthy wine red. Read all about the 2015 Color of the Year here, and I really loved this article, here. What are your thoughts on the new color of the year?

White With A Pop
In most cases, you'll find yourself stuck with stark white walls if you are living in an apartment or a rental property. Rental communities and landlords always seem to stick with the basic and bland "builders white" paint colors for every room. Which brings up the age old question... What do you do with the white walls? How do you make them look pretty? Growing up I always wanted crazy colors for my room. Since then, I've learned to love the look of those stark white walls and embrace the bright and blank canvas that comes with such a space. Check out a few different spaces that might inspire you to get creative with those stark white walls!
A few things to think about when trying to bring pops of color into a white space:
- Don't be afraid to mix wood tones & color together
- Don't be afraid to mix multiple colors
- Colorful Artwork is an easy way to bring color into the space
- Add a colorful upholstery piece to brighten up the space
- Textiles such as rugs, curtains or pillows are an easy, fool proof way to bring in color
- Don't be afraid to layer white on white (but don't forget to still add color!)

Styling a Tray with Mintwood Home {Giveaway}
![]() |
| Orange & Green // Blue & Yellow // Pink & Green |
I'm so excited to be partnering with Mintwood Home this week to bring you ideas for using trays within your home. If you haven't heard of Mintwood Home before, I'll forgive you... They're kind of the new kids on the block. So I'm here to introduce you - and you can thank me later when you realize that you've been browsing through their website for hours and haven't actually gotten anything productive done... Been there, done that.
If you haven't noticed by now, I absolutely love trays. They're so versatile, come in every size and shape you can imagine and they can be used many {i mean many} ways. Most commonly known for their use on bar carts and coffee tables; they're great for holding books, remotes, and decorative objects as well as organizing your favorite liquors. The one thing most people don't think about are the other fun uses for trays.
So, You've got guests coming over for the holidays and you want to welcome them into your home in a creative way... Set a tray by the window in the guest room and display shampoo, conditioner, a candle and any other bath & beauty accessories they could use while they're there! I know my cousins and college girlfriends would love to have access to the latest Essie nail colors.
This tray would be the perfect pairing for your coffee mug on a sunday morning when you just don't want to get out of bed yet. Set it by the window with style and not just on the window sill like you would have in college... {just me?}
With a larger tray, you've got more room to play and get creative. Set your guests up with the book you just finished, a candle, and don't forget that wifi password! How many times have you gone to someones house and asked for their password? We are in a world now where internet and social media are must haves and sometimes, you just have to embrace it. Sharing your wifi password with your guests this way adds some creativity to their stay and makes them feel right at home!
Make yourself feel like a guest in your own home and enjoy a good book, with a cup of coffee and a nice candle. All those things that might be cluttering your nightstand can make you feel pampered for an afternoon when you set them up on a tray and enjoy some time relaxing!

Moodboard Maroons
Here I am again, talking about fall. Last fall/winter season I found the perfect pair of maroon skinny jeans and I just broke them out of the closet again for the season. It's such a great fall color, weather you're wearing it, or adding a little flair of it to your home just for the season. Do you have a fall color you can't get enough of?

Save the Ta Ta's
October is filled with a lot of things. While most people are talking about everything fall.. colder weather, halloween, and obviously pumpkins, it's hard not to notice all of the pink that's out and about this month. Pink fountains, pink banners, pink balloons, and even pink lights at night shining on buildings. If you haven't noticed by now it's breast cancer awareness month!
Today's moodboard is dedicated to everything pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Wear something pink, grab a ribbon from a fundraiser, walk in a 5k for a cause, and keep fighting until pink is just another color!

Black & White
Happy Monday! Let's add a little drama to this week by starting off with none other than one of my favorite color combinations... Black and White. I don't even know how to describe it... or even justify it really. If I could wear black, white and neutral everyday... and have everything in my house be black white and neutral as well... I would. Is this acceptable? or just an unhealthy obsession? Who knows.
Oh and maybe also because Scandal is back on for another season and Olivia Pope is my main bi*%$ er... woman. If you're a fan too then you know that she's always looking amazing in her Black and White combos. Does anyone else love Olivia Pope as much as I do?

Pumpkin Spice Latte
HAPPY FALL! It's that time of year again! Tis the season of yoga pants, over the knee boots, infinity scarves, and warm Starbucks lattes. For me, I'm a sucker for a plain jane caramel latte but I know how girls get when the PSL's hit Starbucks. {girls go crazy for PSL's} So, in typical trendy fashion - why not dedicate todays Moodboard Monday to the oh-so-popular PSL itself. I mean, it is that time of year right?
Who else is excited for the other important things like over the knee boots and infinity scarves..? I know I am!

Blueberries
I know this isn't one of my brightest moments I'm about to publicly share. But with that said, it does make for a great story... So here we go. Friday afternoon I accepted a 24lb. box of blueberries from a complete stranger.
I know what you're thinking. WHY. Don't take it. Trust me, it went through my head too. But before I knew it there I was standing in my living room with this box of frozen blueberries. {Large Box, might I add} My first thought was Holy S#*% what did I just do? I ran out onto my back porch with this "box of blueberries" and all of the questions of a paranoid twenty-something female ran through my head. Are these safe? Are they really blueberries? Why did this man come to my front door to give me these?
Long story short...Yes, my freezer is now full with frozen blueberries. Yes, they were safe {you can check out the company here} and yes, I'm fully prepared to look like Violet Beauregarde in a few weeks.

Thanks to the strange man who decided to knock on my front door and kindly give me that 24lb. box of blueberries.. I'll be repaying this random act of kindness by sharing my baking skills with my work and my neighbors! As for the first blueberry endeavor.... These delicious blueberry crumb cake muffins.

Savoring Summer
Don't go putting away those bright colors just yet! I know fall is right around the corner but let's talk about how to get the most out of those spring/ summer brights & bolds.
A great way to get the most of that bright decor is by changing up the placement of it all. Take some time this weekend and stage up your coffee table with all those pieces. The great thing about spring and summer is that you can get away with mixing bright colors and bold accents - a little thing we like to call color blocking. Come fall and winter, you don't need to put all those decor items you love so much away for the season per say... You could very easily separate all of the colors and add neutrals and mixed metals to bring the feel of the decor right into the next season. More details on how to transition to come! As for now, what's your take on squeezing the most out of the last few days of summer?

Alma Mater
In honor of school being back in session and fall classes in full swing, today's moodboard monday goes out to my alma mater. High Point University brought me down to North Carolina, gave me my amazing education, and assisted with opening doors into the Interior Design and Home Furnishings world. It also brought me to Charlotte with the job I have today! For more purple color inspiration, check out my purple Pinterest board here.

Dorm Room DIY
As most of the schools have already had their move-in days by now and students are settling into their dorms or apartments for the school year, I know everyone is gearing up for classes to start. {who's excited!?} The start of a new school year was always so exciting - You're finally back and reunited with all your best friends, whether you're preparing for recruitment as a freshman going through rush, or a sister prepping to welcome new members, or you're really excited to start finally taking classes that actually apply to your major - There is one thing everyone has in common. The living experience.
Dorm/ apartment living can be tough. Miles away from home, you don't have your bed, your walls, your bathroom and you feel like you're missing a piece of home. Here are a few DIY projects that can help you gear up for the new school year and make your room or apartment feel a little more you!
1. Colorful Table Lamp || Turn a thrift store table lamp into a fun lighting feature on your desk with bright punch of color. Spray paint the base with your favorite color spray paint and make that old ornate lamp a little more interesting.
2. Washi Tape Letters || Not so great with a paintbrush but want to be crafty? That's okay! Use washi tape to create fun patterned letters and initials to hang on your door or sit on your desk!
3. Chalkboard Drawers || Sick of seeing all of your clothes through those cheap plastic drawers? Use chalkboard paint to paint the faces of the drawers and have custom labeled drawers for all of your things! This is a great idea {i wish i did this in college..}
4. Brick Bookends || Using 2 bricks {preferably without holes} take a can of spray paint to the bricks and add your touch of lace, fabric or glitter to create fun and inexpensive bookends.
5. Washi Tape Pinboard || Spice up a cork board with washi tape and create a fun way to pin up your photos, notes, and more!
6. Painted Mason Jars || Spray paint a few mason jars to sit on your desk and hold all of your school supplies. This tutorial is great and easy to follow.
7. Lilly Pulitzer Wall Art || Don't throw away your old Lilly planner just yet - Use those old prints and patterns to hang on your walls! Tear out those pretty patterns and put them in frames to create a photo gallery wherever you need a punch of color.
8. Daily Dry Erase Board || Turn a photo collage frame into a daily calendar by filling the frames with scrapbook paper that has the days of the week written on them. Buy the perfect frame here.
9. Lamp Shade Photo Display || Wrap twine around a lampshade to create a modern twist on the bulletin board.

Moodboard Monday
Squeezing in the last few weeks of summer seems to be the best time of year to me. I love when it finally gets cool enough at night that you can actually sit on a patio with your friends for hours and hours. Yet, your days are still sweltering hot and best spent by the pool. With August here, school almost in session and the trees still green - Why not tribute todays moodboard monday to just that. The greenery that we still have for a few more weeks!

Eclectic Essentials
I'm almost positive I've had this Pinterest image pinned and tucked away for just about six months now. I LOVE all of the bright and bold colors that come together to make this mix and match living room have such a cozy eclectic feel. All of these pieces are very easy to at a budget friendly price - Especially since they are not all part of a matching set! I'm all about mixing and matching recently... {see yesterday's post} This look would be great in a small apartment space whether it's a New York loft or just a quaint little studio apartment in the city somewhere, smaller sofas and high legged chairs and furniture pieces are great for making a small space appear larger!
Side Note: mint, navy ANNND gold..? Don't tempt me.
